Event Update(Feb 23, 2021)
Welcome everyone to the 2021 Southeast Power Invite. Schedules are up and AES but, with Covid, could change so continue to monitor. We are excited to host this great tournament and wish your teams the best. Following is some helpful information to help you enjoy your time with us.
We are excited to have you participate in our Southeast Power Invite. Please feel free to find out more information on our SAVL website. SAVL.org
We have also included some of the basics below.
Upward Star Center | 9768 Warren H Abernathy Hwy | Spartanburg 29301
COVID: We fully expect players and adults to wear masks when in common areas. We will not require players to wear masks when playing (or on the bench). We are allowing adults to take off their mask when they get settled at the court. The STAR Center has a few options for teams/families to relocate to when not playing/officiating. We are not mandating masks at all times inside The STAR Center.
CHECK-IN: Doors will open at 7:00am. Play begins at 8:00am. We will have a 30 minute break between pools for snacks/drinks. The last scheduled match of the day will be 1:30pm.
ADMISSION FEE: $10/day per adult. Kids 18 and younger are free. (There is no charge for coaches and players) Please enter through the main front door to pay and obtain your wristband. We are asking for just 2 adults per rostered athlete – siblings do not count against this total.
CHAMPIONSHIP TABLE: There will be a tournament director located at the championship table if there are any questions regarding the tournament. Coaches need to check in there.
SPECTATORS: Spectators are allowed to bring in chairs to be placed on the sideline for viewing. We are asking parents to stick to socially distancing. The STAR Center has plenty of seating. Please clear out from the court when your team is not playing.
FOOD & TABLES: Outside Food “Storage” (coolers, picnic baskets, boxes of food, etc…) and food tables are NOT ALLOWED to be brought inside the building. These items can be stored and setup outside the building.
FOOD: Concessions are available The STAR Center.
TEAM & POOLS: The official pools and matches are available on AES. Every match has been pre-scheduled for both pools (and your director has access to the matches).
VOLLEYBALLS: Warm up balls will be provided. Game balls will be provided and sanitized between matches.
TRAINER: There will be a trainer at The STAR Center. Please have your own supplies available if you wish to have any taping performed by the trainers on duty. If there is no trainer on site, please make best judgment in case of injury.
NO TOLERANCE POLICY: Sportsmanship and fair play are the highest priority. We want our tournament to be competitive and demonstrate all the positive aspects of youth sports. There will be no tolerance for misconduct by players, coaches, or spectators. Cussing or loud negative comments directed at a player, Coach, another parent, or official will be grounds for expulsion from the tournament. If you witness any misconduct please advise the court official or a tournament representative at the Championship desk. Positive Cheering and encouragement for your team is welcome.
OTHER: If you notice anything that needs our attention such as bathrooms, spills, trash cans, etc…please let the staff at the front desk know.
We hope everyone has a fun, competitive and safe experience this weekend. In addition to this volleyball tournament, we are hosting a number of other tournaments at our facilities and more information can be found on our website at SAVL.org
